Sebuah Refleksi Teologis atas Skema Loot Boxes dalam Game Online

Abstrak

Loot boxes menjadi salah satu skema yang umum dan hampir dapat ditemui di segala jenis game online. Siapa saja yang bermain game online dapat terlibat dalam skema tersebut. Kehadiran loot boxes memunculkan sebuah problem of gambling, di mana para pemain mempraktikkan tindakan gambling dan dapat mengalami keinginan untuk merasakan kesenangan dan kepuasan secara berlebihan. Fenomena ini menuntut sebuah refleksi teologis yang mendalam agar orang percaya dapat memberikan respons yang tepat atas fenomena ini. Tulisan ini berisi refleksi teologis tentang fenomena gambling dalam skema loot boxes di game online. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode teologi praktika yang digagas oleh Richard R. Osmer. Dengan menggunakan metode ini respons yang muncul akan dibangun dalam bentuk refleksi teologis. Melalui refleksi teologis tentang fenomena gambling dalam skema loot boxes di game online didapati bahwa gambling dalam skema loot boxes menempatkan manusia kepada keterikatan, di mana manusia dibuat untuk meletakkan harapannya kepada kemungkinan-kemungkinan. Kepuasan sejati manusia hanya dapat ditemukan melalui hubungan dengan Tuhan, yang memenuhi kebutuhan jiwa terdalam. Pembebasan dari keterikatan diberikan melalui Kristus yang memanggil manusia untuk mengandalkan dan memuliakan Tuhan dalam setiap aspek kehidupan, termasuk ketika menghadapi ketidakpastian.
